Welcome

I am a research scientist at Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, leading early efforts to understand how genetic mutations affect cellular function as part of the Virtual Cell mission. Previously, I worked with Dr. Victoria Popic at the Broad Institute on motif-driven structural variant discovery and their association with disease. I completed my Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University, where I developed novel statistical machine-learning models to parse complex interactions between genetics and brain functioning in neuropsychiatric disorders. Major contributions from my Ph.D. include: Bayesian models for finemapping, graph-based deep learning models for interpretable polygenic risk scoring, and latent factor models for multimodal imaging-genetics. Most of this work was conducted in collaboration with the Lieber Institute of Brain Development and the University of Virginia. My long-term goal is to integrate complex statistical models with genomic knowledge to provide insights into disease mechanisms.
